I couldn’t wait to start my Internship at NetWatch Global, and so far, my experience has done nothing but exceed my expectations. On my first day, everyone was so welcoming, whether that was in the office or over Slack – the company’s virtual messaging service. This has been one of my favourite tools to use as I am able to ask any question I may have at any time, whilst receiving all the necessary help I need. I have felt nothing but comfortable and supported in my first few months at NetWatch by everyone in the company, especially by my two line managers who have been excellent in aiding us with whatever we need, whether that be personally or work related.
NetWatch were exceptional at providing all the necessary training we needed and allowed us to feel secure in asking any question we had, big or small. My favourite part of the training was being shown the various ways of finding information through social media- as a millennial, I didn’t realise there were so many! I have also thoroughly enjoyed using the unique software and techniques that NetWatch offer to locate information as this is something completely new to me. As well as being on hand with any assistance that we require, one of the aspects I love most about the company is the independence they give us as interns. From week one, we were given many responsibilities and this was something that I enjoyed as I have always been busy and made to feel like an effective member of the team.
My everyday tasks as an intern include internet profile report writing, dealing with clients, administration work and working efficiently in a team alongside my fellow interns. One of my favourite parts of report writing is when you locate and gather a multitude of information on a claimant, as it is so satisfying to develop a mass of information into a concise report. I have gained invaluable experience from my time at NetWatch so far and have greatly developed my analytical, report writing and IT skills. From my first report to my most recent, I can see such a massive change as I have developed my writing style, used research techniques more effectively and learnt how to be more analytical rather than presumptive.
One of my favourite aspects of working at NetWatch is the social side of the company. Everyone made us feel so welcome from the start and this has been aided by the many different social outings that the company provides. The interns have also had the opportunity of planning our own social which was a big success. We also have the Christmas social approaching which I am very excited for!
Practice really does make perfect and only 3 months in, I feel so much more confident in the work I am producing and the reports that I am writing. I can honestly say that I would not feel this confident so early on in my internship if it wasn’t for the outstanding help, support and guidance that I receive from all members of the company and my fellow interns. Already, I can positively say that this experience so far has been incredibly valuable not only for my final year of university, but also any chosen career path that I may take in the future.
